Custom logo pedometers are a popular swag idea for spring and summer events and tradeshows. They associate your brand with health and fitness, they’re small and easy to travel with. If used regularly, they generate a high rate of logo impressions for a low cost.

Here’s a quick guide to the different types of custom pedometers and how they differ in functionality and price:

STEP COUNTERS – Lowest Priced, Most Basic Type of custom pedometer:

Step counters have a motion sensor that ‘feels’ when a step is taken and counts the steps on a simple display screen. They’re simple to operate, just press the reset button to start at zero and start walking!

The downside to this type of pedometer is that they don’t provide much information, just the number of steps taken between resets. That makes them less useful (and therefore less likely to be used) than ones with more robust features.

Step counting pedometers come in battery and solar-powered models, and in large-display models that are nice choices for Seniors or kids.

Step counting pedometers are the lowest priced, typically in the $2-$4 price range. The cheapest ones often come with a non-replaceable battery. If you choose those, be sure they include an auto shut-off feature for the longest useful life.

MULTI-FUNCTION PEDOMETERS: Step, Distance & Calorie Counters

Fancy, special-function pedometers start out in the $4-$5 range and can go up to around $20 for USB-compatible styles. These types of custom branded pedometers are excellent for corporate wellness or sports training programs, as the higher-end models also tend to be the most accurate. These also make a nice client, donor or patient gift for health-related companies or charities.

No matter which style of logo-branded pedometer you choose, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when ordering them. The biggest problem is usually the small imprint area. Some logos just don’t fit, or have too much text or detail to work on such a small item. That also means it’s hard to print much contact info on them, like phone numbers, long URLs, etc. It’s best to stick with a simple, one-color logo on this item.
