Throughout many of my blogs we have explored items that work well for trade shows, but I realized that I haven’t devoted an entire blog to trade show swag and giveaways in a really long time- yet it’s a top search on our website and has its own category on our site as well. So let’s look at how (and why) using swag at trade shows increases not only your booth traffic, but also recall after the show is over.
Give it away, and they will come. Literally. People love free stuff, and if we are being completely honest it really doesn’t matter what you are giving away- it will draw traffic to your booth. However, at Barefoot Swag we are firm believers in not just picking “something” to give away. Whatever your budget, there are swag items that are effective and will make the most of your marketing dollars. Your swag needs to relate- to your product, audience or event- to achieve your goals.
If your goal is solely to get people to your booth, then choosing an inexpensive item to give away is perfectly fine. If you are a new business or new in the industry, sometimes you just need to get your name into as many hands as possible. Selecting “good” items means you need to keep your audience in mind and appeal to as many people as possible- but don’t choose cheap quality. Good swag items that are useful after the show will help increase the recall for a long time to come- but not if they are cheap quality and get tossed.  Web cam covers, can coolers, or magnetic clips are inexpensive swag giveaways that are also small and light weight and can be handed out in mass at your booth.

Stepping up your game to “better” items that are handed out more selectively to attendees that stop by your booth to talk or that are used as an incentive to draw people into your booth will help increase your traffic and your interaction with clients and potential clients. If your goal is to qualify potential clients, to connect more with current clients, or to have more face to face time to talk with attendees, then choose an item with a higher perceived value that is more focused on your target client or that relates more directly to your products. RFID Blocking swag items are popular, such as this RFID Blocking pouch. Drinkware is a sought out trade show promo too, such as these lightweight water bottles. Useful hand outs such as first aid kits are always appreciated, like this first aid traveler kit.

When you are working toward getting the qualified leads, connecting with top customers or reaching the top decision makers in an organization, having nicer items to give away is crucial. Handing a .60 item to your top client isn’t going to make a very good impression. Add a gift box or logo gift bag to make your promo items a nice presentation for a higher perceived value and to make the items even more special. Functional items like this tech organizers, folding umbrella or sleek power bank are sure to make the right impression.

Selecting the perfect item or items to give away at your trade show booth does not need to be an overwhelming decision or choice. Just give us the details and our team will put together some suggestions to help you narrow down your search. Give us a call or email today and we will get started finding the ideal swag to showcase your logo, promote your brand and reach your target audience.
