Last week I started a series of blogs on the fact that I don’t love all swag the same. Or maybe I should say that I love some swag more than others. Either way, I have my favorites. Last week I talked about the tried and true, classic, timeless promo items that should not be ignored (you can read that blog here). So this week I thought I would jump to the other end of the spectrum and talk about the “new”.
This one is much more difficult to write than last weeks. I feel like at soon as it is published it will be outdated. Even so, these are my picks for favorite new swag ideas.
PopSocket is a retail brand that has recently been made available in our industry. Part phone stand, part handle, these are all the rage. And they are now available in aluminum, which looks really sharp. Popsockets allow for a full color imprint on the button, which gives you a lot of options for imprinting. These collapse down flat so they are easy to transport, work great in a mailing and are easy to hand out at tradeshows. If your primary market is millennials, then you should definitely consider adding your logo to the popsocket.
Pens are pens, right? Not when your logo lights up. Your logo is laser engraved on the metal pen barrel and shines brightly when the writing point it extended. A fun giveaway at trade shows, college fairs or events were you want to draw a crowd in to hear about your products. These pens put a spotlight on your logo.
Video cards have been out a little while, but are still new to most marketers. On the high end of the price range, they really pack a punch with what they can do and the impact they make with the “cool” factor. Combing a brochure, print material or product information with a video that can be easily watched over and over makes a unique, stand out marketing piece. These are great for new product launches, equipment demos, for builders and other corporations that need the information that goes into prospects or clients hands to be memorable. If you haven’t seen these in action, here is a short demo of how the video card works:
As an early morning dog walker, I am already loving this product. A beanie with a built in led light. Why didn’t someone thing of this sooner? A one size fits most knit beanie with removable light panel for washing. This also features replaceable button batteries and four brightness settings. This item is perfect for runners, construction crews and anyone working outside during the winter months when daylight hours are shorter.
Inverted umbrellas- again, why did no one invent this sooner? These babies fold up instead of down, therefore keeping all the wet inside the umbrella instead of all over you and the floor. This design also makes getting in and out of the car or building without getting soaked in the process much easier. These are available in several sizes and styles and make excellent gifts with purchase, volunteer gifts, corporate thank you and holiday gifts.
Bluetooth speakers have been available for a while now, but Pairing Bluetooth speakers are new. These Brookstone brand speakers can be customized with your logo and allow you to connect the first and second speaker wirelessly to achieve stereo sound. There is even an optional LED rhythm light feature that blinks with the music. And to make them even more useful in an office setting they offer a speakerphone feature.
